Cannon Township, Michigan

Cannon Township is a great place to live, work and do business.

Update on the Wolverine Dump Site 10/17/2017

Here is an update on what we know today, Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

First, and most importantly, NO CONTAMINATION has been confirmed at the Wolverine site located within Cannon Township. Test results will not be back for around two weeks. At that time we will pass along those findings to you.

Second, contrary to what you may have been told, Kent County cannot perform a water test for PFAS. Testing for this contaminant can only be done by a certified lab and those are all located outside of Michigan.

On October 13th, the Lake Bella Vista Improvement Association sent out a notice to it's residents that it has voluntarily sent out a water sample to be tested for contaminants.  As soon as we hear about results, we will inform you.

Also, on October 13th, the City of Rockford sent out the following information:  "The City of Rockford water was tested and came back with no detection of PFC’s. Looking at the analytical sheet the lab tested down to 2 parts per trillion. That is the lowest range that can be detected. The EPA recommended safe limit is 70 parts per trillion or less. A copy of the lab report as well as information on PFC's is located under recent news on our website www.rockford.mi.us."

As soon as we hear new information from the DEQ or Kent County, we will pass this along to you. If you have questions or concerns in the meantime, please contact the MDEQ directly at 800-662-9278.
