Joe Gavan has more than 25 years of professional experience including executive roles in healthcare and the life-sciences. Gavan earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a master of management degree from Aquinas College. In addition to his trustee role, he is currently a member of the Kent County Officers Compensation Commission, Kent Hospital Finance Authority, and serves as VP of the Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids. He and his wife, Susan, have two sons.
2012-present: managing partner of C-Suite Strategic, LLC, which, among other services, develops and executes communications and operational strategies for clients in the healthcare, education, legal, and nonprofit sectors.
2006-2012: Served as Vice President at Van Andel Research Institute and led an integrated communications, development, and government affairs team to enhance VAi's operational success and build its visibility as a world-class research institution.
Before 2006: Served as Vice President of Goshen Health System, managing partner at Jones, Gavan & Helmholdt, LLC, and business manager at The Greystone Companies.
