Voter Registration

Voter Registration

You may register to vote at the Cannon Township Office or at any branch of the Secretary of State's Office. You may also register by mail. Forms are available at the Township Office or one is available to print here.  Once you print and complete the form, you can send it to: Cannon Township Clerk, 6878 Belding Road NE, Rockford, MI 49341, or scan and email to ELECTIONS or fax to 616-874-8940.

Michigan law requires that the same address be used for voter registration and driver license purposes. Therefore, if the residence address you provide when registering to vote differs from the address shown on your Michigan driver license or personal identification card, the Secretary of State will automatically update your driver license or personal identification card address. If an address change is made, the Secretary of State will mail you an address update sticker for your driver license or personal identification card.

Shortly after you register to vote, you will receive a voter identification card in the mail. This card shows your polling place for state and school elections, and your precinct number for both. There is a place to sign your card, and then you should put it in your wallet in case you need it on Election Day.

Have you recently moved into Cannon Township and went to the Secretary of State’s office to update your driver’s license? If so, you were automatically registered to vote. Anyone not previously registered to vote will automatically be registered. Voters may decline the automatic registration by informing Secretary of State personnel. Michigan residents may also register to vote up to and including Election Day. If you are registering to vote on election day you must do so at the Cannon Township Clerk’s office.
