Paint. Play. Leave Your Mark.
CANNON TOWNSHIP, MI — August 12, 2025 — Cannon Township invites families to make their mark—literally—during “Oh, Cannon Kids Rock,” a community rock painting event that turns creativity into a lasting legacy.
Join us on Tuesday, August 12 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Township Center Park, under the red pavilion by the Fire Truck Playground. Kids of all ages (recommended for ages 4–12) are welcome to paint colorful rocks that will later be arranged into a permanent labyrinth-style walking path along the Cannon Trail.
“This is about more than just painting rocks,” says Jeff Grill, the local artist behind the project. “It’s about giving kids a sense of pride and place—knowing they’ve contributed to something lasting in our community.”
The event is hosted by Cannon Township, with all materials provided. After the painting session, rocks will be sealed and carefully installed later this summer for all to walk, reflect, and enjoy.
Todd Olson, Parks and Recreation Chair, highlights the deeper impact of the event: “It’s creative play, community-building, and mindfulness all wrapped into one. We’re excited to offer something that brings families together and enhances our park system.”
This event also counts as a square on Cannon Township’s popular Youth, Summer Lingo, Bingo—a family-friendly initiative encouraging kids to explore their Township, connect with nature, and engage in fun local activities. Kids who complete a BINGO can redeem their card for a free ice cream cone at Cowlicks and receive a Cannon Township sticker from the Fire Department on Belding Road. Don’t miss this chance to check a box and create a memory!
This is a free event. No registration required—just show up ready to create and have fun. Don’t forget to wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on!
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
